Terms of Use

These terms apply whenever you view Alexandria Criminal History, read its material, or use a search feature. Continued use means that you accept every condition below. If you disagree with any part, you must stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. Alexandria Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with the City of Alexandria, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or any government office. Neither this site nor its advertising partners provides a service for credit, employment, tenant, or insurance decisions, or any other purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site is a reference for Alexandria criminal-record resources. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent of all public offices. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files documents for a user.

Its role is to identify Alexandria record custodians, including Alexandria Police, the Sheriff, local court clerks, the Virginia Department of State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Some pages also connect visitors with outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree not to:

  • Use site content for hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Harass, stalk, intimidate, or threaten another person
  • Use bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools on the site
  • Gain or attempt unauthorized access to any system
  • Disrupt performance or interfere with another person's access
  • Violate a federal, Virginia, or Alexandria law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use site content or a linked tool to harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or discriminate against another person. Misuse may also violate criminal law. This restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Registry information supports lawful public-safety awareness and must not be used for vigilantism, unlawful discrimination, or retaliation against a listed person.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Alexandria Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and does not create a background check, credit report, or consumer report. Its advertising partners are not presented as services for evaluating job applicants, rental applicants, insurance eligibility, or credit. You may not use this site or a linked tool to:

  • Set insurance terms or judge creditworthiness
  • Evaluate a person for employment
  • Screen a housing or rental applicant
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other activity regulated by the FCRA

When a legally permitted purpose requires an official record, use the Virginia Department of State Police process or an appropriate FCRA-compliant provider.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how an Alexandria charge, conviction, warrant, or Virginia expungement rule applies to a particular person. A licensed Virginia attorney should address those questions.

6. No Warranties

All content and functions are provided "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner's search results will be complete or correct
  • Every page will be free from bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • Information will always be accurate, complete, and current
  • The site will remain available without interruption

Criminal files can change when charges are amended, dismissed, sealed, or expunged. Delays and gaps can occur. Nothing published here is an official statement from Alexandria Police, the Sheriff, a court clerk, Virginia State Police, or another government office.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to government websites, court portals, legal aid groups, and outside search services. We do not operate those destinations and are not responsible for their content, availability, pricing, or data practices. Their own terms control once a visitor leaves this site.

8. Intellectual Property

Unless stated otherwise, site text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Alexandria Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, Alexandria Criminal History is not liable for loss or damage arising from use of the site, its content, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless against claims or demands caused by your use of the site or your breach of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms, and any dispute concerning site use must be brought in a court located in Virginia. Access to government records is addressed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, Va. Code § 2.2-3700 et seq., while dissemination of criminal-history record information is limited by Va. Code § 19.2-389. Those statutes do not make this private site a government custodian.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision takes effect when the new version is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may suspend or end access to the site at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one provision invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in effect. The affected provision will be limited or adjusted only as much as necessary.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be submitted through the Contact page.
